8th ANNUAL RACE FOR HOPE 71 - TOM BERRY SWEEPS TO WIN $15000

October 12, 2024 - 8th Annual Race For Hope 71

Batesville Motor Speedway hosted the 8th Annual Race For Hope 71 presented by IMCA-TV on October 10-11-12, 2024. Fifty-three IMCA Modifieds entered the 3-day event.

Tom Berry, from Marshalltown, Iowa, swept the event by winning all nightly feature events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday and Friday paid $2500 each to win and the Saturday night 71-Lap Feature paid $7500 to win. Berry, who is from Marshalltown, IA, also claimed the additional $2500 for winning all three events for a total of $15000 for the weekend.

On Thursday night, Berry, driving his #11 Lethal Chassis IMCA Modified, finished 2nd in his heat behind local driver Richie Tosh and won the feature from the 12th position. On Friday night, Berry finished 2nd in his heat and started 8th in the feature, and on Saturday night, he started 2nd and quickly took the lead to win the 71-lap feature.

Taking the checkered flag behind Berry on Saturday night was local driver, Jeff Taylor in his #5 Shaw/Taylor Modified. Taylor started in the ninth position and finished second after a battle with Cody Thompson (Sioux City, IA) who started in the fourteenth position. Thompson finished a close third. Finishing out the top ten were Tim Ward (Harcourt, IA), Tanner Black (Otis, KS), Wendell Wallace (Jamestown, AR), Dallon Murty (Chelsea, IA), Curtis Cook (Conway, AR), Brint Hartwick (Quitman, AR), Ashton Wilkey (Batesville, AR)

*After a nasty roll-over, Nascar legend, Ken Schrader (Fenton, MO) finished in the twenty-third position.
The fifth-place starter, Spencer Hartwick (Little Rock, AR), also had a little bad luck with a roll-over that left him finishing in the twenty-first position. Glad to say all are okay!!
